What is Ausbildung?

Ausbildung is Germany's dual vocational training system. You split your time between a company — where you earn a salary and gain hands-on experience — and a vocational school (Berufsschule), where you study the theory behind your trade.

For international candidates from Pakistan, South Asia, and beyond, Ausbildung offers one of the most realistic and legal pathways to live and work in Germany long-term — without university fees or a scholarship.

You get paid

Your employer pays €800–1,200/month from day one. This is a work contract, not a scholarship.

No tuition fees

The Berufsschule is free. Training costs are covered by the employer.

Legal residency path

An Ausbildung contract qualifies you for a visa and a long-term path to permanent residency.

Open to non-EU

Germany actively recruits international talent to fill over 60,000 unfilled Ausbildung positions.

Who Can Apply for Ausbildung in Germany?

You do not need a university degree. The requirements are achievable for motivated young people from Pakistan, South Asia, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Ausbildung in Germany for international candidates.

Can I do Ausbildung in Germany without speaking German?
No — German at B1 level is a firm requirement. Both the Berufsschule and your workplace operate in German. AzubiTrack only works with candidates who hold a valid Goethe-Institut or ÖSD certificate. If you are still learning, see our free German learning resources on the homepage.
Is Ausbildung really free for international candidates?
Tuition at the Berufsschule is free. Your employer pays your training salary. AzubiTrack charges small milestone-based consultancy fees (total €500 for Ausbildung) — not placement fees. BISP-registered households pay nothing at all.
How long does the Ausbildung visa process take from Pakistan?
From first contact to arrival in Germany typically takes 9–15 months. Document attestation (HEC/IBCC), employer matching, and German embassy processing are the main time factors. Starting early is essential.
Can I bring my family to Germany during Ausbildung?
Family reunification is generally not permitted during Ausbildung training. After completing your training and transitioning to a skilled worker visa, family reunification becomes possible.
What happens after I finish my Ausbildung?
You receive a nationally recognised German qualification. You can apply for a skilled worker visa, continue employment with your training company, or work toward permanent residency after several years.
Does AzubiTrack guarantee a job or visa?
No. AzubiTrack is a guidance and support organisation. We do not guarantee contracts, placements, or visa approvals — no legitimate organisation can. We guide you honestly and maximise your chances.
